Ararat

The Biblical Ararat is a blessed Mountain for Armenian people. Biblical Mountain upon which landed Noah’s Ark after the flood. With the directive of God, Noah made sacrifice on Ararat and God established a covenant with him. According to that He will never destroy the Earth by the flood. God set a rainbow in the clouds as a sign of the covenant and the Ark of Noah landed on Mount Ararat. Then the life started on the world again. Mount Ararat is a snow-capped and dormant volcanic cone. The Mountain of Ararat has two peaks: the Greater Ararat with 5165m height and the Lesser Ararat with 3975m height.

The Mount Ararat is the largest single-mass mountain in the whole world, because it is very huge and rises to 17000 feet from the plains surrounding it. This Biblical Mountain is one of the great prizes of Armenian nation. Also it is very pleasurable present for the mountain collectors not only that it is the highest summit in Armenia, but also it has historical great significance.

Around the Mountain is located the Valley of Ararat which has valuable importance for Armenians. The significance of the Ararat emphasizes more expressive with the tombs of Armenian kings which are located on Ararat.

Through the historical obstacles Armenians lost their territories of the Western Armenia. And according to the historical circumstances the Mountain of Ararat now is situated in Turkey but still symbolizing Armenia and Armenian people. This Biblical Mountain was always in center of painters, musicians, historians, archeologists and many others.

Mount Ararat dominates the skyline of the Yerevan: the capital city of Armenia. And Ararat will stay as Armenians spiritual home forever.
